Friday!

And it's Friday! We made it! These guys are so tired tonight, they just laid there on the floor!!!

First Week...

The boys have had a great first week of school so far! They are figuring things out and I couldn't be more proud of them! I even got an email from one of Ben's teachers saying how kind he has been to other students that are struggling. I am in awe of how well Conner and Ben are adapting and accepting all of these huge changes all at once!

Every Year...

Conner and Ben have filled this paper out every year since preschool! 6th grade is no exception! I am so happy that they had such a great first day!

First Day...

To say that today was hard is such a huge understatement… I cannot believe that our two boys are going to middle school today! They were in very good spirits this morning, which I was very grateful for! They were excited and we took lots of pictures. After that, I had to leave before I started crying again, so I went to work (by myself..  for the first time ever...) and Nick walked with the boys to school. Both Ben and Conner texted me when they got there!

Ben and Conner both had great first days! They came home excited and told me everything that they could remember! Nick and I are so proud of them and everything that they were able to accomplish today! They continue to amaze us! It was a huge day for us all!!!

Vision Therapy!

Today was Ben's last vision therapy session! His therapist got him some gifts and a very cool certificate! He was pumped!!! He still has exercises to do at home and one more doctor appointment at that clinic, but the weekly visits are done! He officially graduated from vision therapy! Ben did an amazing job!

Golfing...

The boys did some golfing today! Last day of summer break!!!

Bowling...

Nick took the boys bowling today!

Fishing...

I started back to work today and the boys got to go fishing with Dad and Papa!

Back to IC...

We went back to Iowa City today to talk to Ben's doctor. Ben's platelet count has gone up to 63000!!! It surprised all of us. Still not normal, but a great number! We will check it again in a month and decide at that time if we need to move on to a different medication. His platelet counts have been very up and down, very unpredictable. Ben was pretty happy and for now, we will take it!

Reunion!

We had the Hasty family reunion last weekend and here is the photo that my uncle took of the whole family!

We couldn't let our summer slip by without a trip to Zoey's for pizza and a zookie!

More Practice...

We went back to school this morning to practice lockers again and meet with a teacher. Both boys got the lockers open by themselves and we even saw several friends there today doing the same thing!

First Call to a Girl!

Ben spent almost an hour talking to a girl he likes on the phone tonight... He wasn't sure about calling, but he ended up doing it and he was absolutely thrilled when he got off the phone! The kid was pretty impressed with himself... actually Nick and I were pretty impressed too! He did a great job of keeping the conversation going and asked lots of great questions!!! 

Lockers...

We walked over to school again this morning to practice opening the dreaded lockers! Both boys did a fabulous job and were able to get them open several times by themselves!

Orientation!

Conner and Ben had a great orientation at school today. They were there all afternoon with 8th graders playing games and learning more about their new school! 

Cousins...

The boys had a wonderful time with their cousins playing in the pool today!!!

Back to the Pool...

It was so nice to get the pool back out and spend an afternoon outside in the sunshine watching my two sharks swim together!

Out of the House...

Tonight I was able to go meet some friends for the first time in a few weeks and the boys headed to Farley for the races! We all had a great night out!

A Walk to School...

We took a walk to Excelsior Middle School today where our boys will be starting school in a couple of short weeks. We walked around and gave ourselves a little tour! We went into one of their classrooms and the boys tried out a desk! They are starting to look like 6th graders...
