Surprise!

After 2 weeks in a row with low platelet counts between 20k and 30k, this young man got the news today that his platelet count jumped all the way up to 313k!!! We didn't even know that was possible! Ben was speechless, as were the rest of us, including the doctor! In the elevator, we did a little dance and then went out to eat to celebrate the amazing news. We will see what happens next week... but for now we have one very happy boy!

Swimming...

Conner and Ben started some swimming lessons this week at the Aquatic Center. This was their second night. I thought both boys were in the same level, but Ben actually had to start in a lower level than Conner. But tonight, Ben passed that Level 4 so he will be joining Conner in the 12 foot end of the pool next week! We were all very excited! Conner looked amazing, swimming across the pool tonight and treading water! 

February Birthdays...

We traveled to Ankeny this weekend to celebrate our family's February birthdays! The kids even got some valentines from Nana and Gramps! We had a very fun time!!!

Birthday Girl!

Today is my birthday! Our days have been so busy lately that I almost forgot! Nick showered me with gifts and the boys insisted that we go out to eat, so we decided to try Olive Garden. I can't even remember the last time that we were there. The kids menus just weren't doing anything for the boys, so they had to order off the adult menu. Conner wanted steak and Ben opted for shrimp scampi. Needless to say, it was an expensive dinner out! It was worth it though, as we very much enjoyed it!

New Job!!!

Nick accepted a new job at the Marion HyVee as Produce Manager! Everything happened pretty quick and it doesn't even seem real yet, but we are very excited for this new opportunity for Nick. Tonight we went to his going away party with his coworkers from his current HyVee. (Thanks Peg and Brian for watching our tweens!) I got a picture of Nick with Shawn, his bestie at work! It was a great night! Nick starts at the new store on Monday!

Weekly Trip...

We made our weekly trip to Iowa City tonight and we stopped for dinner. Ben's count is at 88k with the new med, so we will continue our trips to IC for now!

Super Bowl!

The best thing about Super Bowl night is the food and the commercials! 

Last Game...

Today was the last basketball game of the season for Conner. He has had a lot of fun this year and has been a great team player and even scored lots of points in multiple games! Ben also got to play today for the last game! (His platelet count is up this week, so it was safe for him to play.) He was very happy that he got to play in the last game!
