Nick's Racing Day!

Today we headed to Knoxville so that Nick could race his own late model! He was very excited and we couldn't wait to watch him! We got him a "racing experience" for his birthday, so he has been eagerly anticipating this day!

After listening to some instructions, the group that Nick was in walked across the track to the pits to get all ready to race!

There is Nick, all suited up!

And here he is, getting into the race car!!!

It was time for Nick to take the track! It was awesome watching him leave the pit area and make his way onto the track!

Nick did so good!!! He was so excited after driving the car! This was such a great experience and I am so glad that Nick got to check this off his bucket list today!

Hawkeye Challenge...

After an awesome pregame dinner of wings, these guys are ready to watch the Hawkeye game tonight! They think they are going to stay awake for the whole game...

Ben's trying to look excited, but his yawn got in the way!

Ben didn't make it! He fell asleep and slept through Nick yelling at the tv!

Conner pretty much stayed awake, but he was definitely ready for bed at 10:00 when the game ended!

Birthday Party!

We took the kiddos to meet Mama and Papa today so they could spend the night with them, so that Nick and I could spend the day with friends celebrating Nick's birthday! The Abels came from out of town to spend the day. We watched some football, went to a bar to have a little lunch, drove to Riverside to do a little gambling and then headed home to get some food ready for dinner! We had a few more friends over from in town and we all enjoyed good food and lots of laughs! It was so great to celebrate Nick's birthday and just enjoy the day!

Happy Birthday to this wonderful man that we get to call ours! We appreciate everything that you do for us! Conner, Ben, and I wish you a very happy 40th birthday. I can't believe that you are 40 today. I am so lucky that I get to spend every day with you! We love you so much! Let the celebration begin!!! Presents!

The birthday boy wanted Red Lobster tonight so that is where we went for dinner! We enjoyed our dinner and Nick and Ben could not get enough shrimp!!!

Backyard Football...

Conner and Ben wanted to play some football this afternoon. They had to stand for the national anthem first... they sang a little... and then the game began. It didn't last too long! Things escalate quickly during their football games!

Soccer is Back!

Baseball games are over and soccer practices started a couple of weeks ago. Today was the boys' first soccer game! Nana and Gramps drove over to watch so the boys loved that. Conner and Ben moved up an age bracket so now they are playing 9 vs 9 which is a little different, but they will do great! It was a wonderful day to watch a soccer game!

New Do's...

Conner and Ben chose their own haircuts today! Although it's hard to tell in the picture, they both chose a different cut and were very proud that they had their own style!

Surprise Game!

Today we surprised the boys with a Hawkeye game! We bought the tickets a few weeks ago and decided to ride the train from Coralville to the stadium!

When we arrived at the stadium, we walked around for a little while. We took pictures, watched the team arrive,  listened to the drum line perform, and even got to go in and watch the whole marching band practice before the game!

It was such a fantastic day! It is always amazing to walk into the stadium and look at the field and all the people! It was great weather and a Hawkeye win! Glad we were able to go!
