Smoothies...

We were experimenting with smoothies tonight.  Our blender wasn't exactly up to the task so we modified the smoothie a bit but the boys loved it.  They sat together and kept drinking up all that fruit! They especially loved it when Dad chopped the tip off the wooden spoon handle by shoving it in the blender during the first smoothie attempt.

Easter Bunny...

Ben and Conner are going through some goodies they got at Dad's store this morning!  They got to see the Easter Bunny, but Ben just gave him a high five and Conner ran away so...

Angel Food...

This blog requires a little back story...  So, on Friday, we took a family trip to HyVee to get some groceries.  Always a great time.  There are two items of note from this trip.  One is that we purchased an angel food cake from the bakery.  We haven't had angel food forever and Nick thought it sounded great so we got that and some strawberries to have for dessert sometime this weekend.  I made him promise that he would figure out how to make a yummy glaze for the cake, however, since we couldn't find one at the store.  The second important thing is that Ben somehow managed to smuggle some items into his cart that we didn't see until the cashier was ringing them up.  (I mean he really smuggled them... usually I can see everything in their carts, but these items were hidden beneath other things.)  The items Ben managed to get past us were a can of pringles, a container of chocolate syrup and two blocks of cream cheese...  I have no clue why he opted for these food items. When asked later, he replied that he wanted to cook something with them...

So, on Saturday night, we all decided that we wanted some of that angel food cake.  As promised, Nick found a recipe for a glaze that looked like it would be great on the cake.  He started getting out the ingredients and we went back and forth about what should go into this icing.  Meanwhile, Conner very seriously says, "I know why we're having angel food cake... because Great Grandma is an angel now!"  We started talking about how my grandma used to make angel food and her icing was the best.  I was thinking about how thankful I am to have those memories, and Ben, with perfect comedic timing goes, "Well, if you guys need some cream cheese for that icing, I have some in the fridge!"  Love my guys...

Game Room!

Conner and Ben love a good game room so we made some time this afternoon to play some games!  Ben won his own stuffed animal, so Dad had to get Conner one, too!  The guys picked out great prizes and they had a very fun time!

Nick won 1000 tickets!  (This happened the last time we were here, too!)  So, while the boys and I continued to play games, Nick stood here and waited for the machine to spit out 1000 tickets!

We fit in a little bit of rest time this afternoon, too!  Then, after dinner, we spent the remainder of the evening back in the water!

Water Park!

The boys woke up early this morning and were ready to go straight to the water park.  We had to explain to them that it didn't even open for a few hours!  After some breakfast and lots of waiting we spent most of our day at the water park.  The boys loved everything, but especially the water slides.  These growing boys got to do a couple new ones this time!  They also love the wave pool.

This is one of the slides the boys got to do with Dad for the first time!  They absolutely loved it!!!

Conner and Ben also love the enormous play area with the huge bucket of water!  They both wanted to stand under it by themselves this time!

Wisconsin Dells!

The boys love Wisconsin Dells and especially the Great Wolf Lodge!  This is the one thing that the boys really wanted to do this week, so we knew we would end up here!  We arrived late this afternoon and while Dad and Mom unpacked, Conner perused the hotel's amenities!

After a quick dinner, we were ready to go to the water parks!  Ben and Conner were so excited!!!

After spending the evening playing in the water, Conner and Ben were exhausted.  We had some snacks and the boys went right to bed.  We are looking forward to a busy and fun day tomorrow!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Our little leprechauns are pretty excited this morning because we are heading to Wisconsin Dells today.  They told everyone at school that they would be going to the water park for Spring Break, so we decided to oblige!  Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Older Girls...

Our neighborhood is filled with boys!  Ben and Conner have lots of friends to play with.  After spending a little time playing with the boys this afternoon, our boys decided that they wanted to play with the older girls a few houses down!  They even had some scooter races!

Cockroach Races...

We started our Spring Break this morning with some cockroach races! Why not?

Conner, of course, is pouting because he didn't win a trophy...

Ben was just his happy little self...

Conner livened up when he received this huge plastic bug and Ben chose the same thing.  It was actually a pretty good time!  The boys enjoyed it and I loved watching them!  After the races, we headed out to lunch and the boys plan on playing outside for the afternoon!

March 12, 2015...

Today was a very emotional day... Grandma's funeral was today.  The boys did the best they could, but it is still a bit confusing! When we got home, the boys sat by all the beautiful flowers we got to bring home.

In other news, Conner went to the ear doctor the other day and one of his tubes was laying in his ear canal so the doctor removed it, put it in a little treasure chest, and told Conner about the "tube fairy!" We kept forgetting about it so tonight we remembered and asked Conner if he wanted to put it under his pillow and see if there really was a tube fairy.  He opted out, saying that he didn't want a fairy to come and take his treasure chest! So, for now, he just wants to keep it!

Although today was a sad day for us, we have to acknowledge that today is our family's adoption day!  6 years ago, today was a very happy day for us!  I snapped one last photo of these two little miracles that make our life so sweet.  We have Spring Break coming up next week, so we will spend some time celebrating our special day!  We love you so much Ben and Conner...

Success!

First day of school with their new glasses!  I thought they were looking pretty good!  And they even made it through the first day without breaking or losing their glasses!  Success!

Glasses...

The boys went to the eye doctor a few weeks ago and we were told that they would both need glasses.  So Ben and Conner have been impatiently waiting for their glasses to arrive and today was finally the day!

Prepared...

The boys were packing everything they could into their pajama pants this morning.  Not sure where they thought they were going, but they insisted they needed to be prepared!

Great Grandma...

We started March off with some sad news.  My grandma got very sick and spent a few days in the hospital before she passed away on Saturday.  The boys were able to see her on Thursday night and I went back on Friday and spent the day with her, so it was nice to have the chance to say goodbye for now.  This is the first time we have really had to deal with this topic with our boys so they are a little confused and keep asking if great grandma is going to get better.

We will all miss you so much Grandma!  I am so grateful that you had the chance to watch us all grow up and see all of these beautiful great grandkids!  This is one of my favorite pictures...  Love you Grandma!
