Saturday Morning...

I so enjoy Saturday mornings with my guys, especially when we have nothing planned. We ran errands and I had two great helpers today so we enjoyed a little lunch out before we headed home to watch movies on this chilly Saturday!

The boys got to have another one of their famous dance parties at school today! After school we enjoyed our pizza and a movie for dinner and the boys were exhausted after a long week! Well, we all were...

Homecoming Parade!

The boys chose to walk in the Homecoming parade this year with their fifth grade friends. They wanted to do it by themselves (without Mom or Dad) so we dropped them off at school and waited for them to make it around to our house! They got to carry the sign for their school so they were very excited!!! It was so much fun watching them!

Tornado Warning...

Today we had a "first" at school... a tornado warning that wasn't a drill. We knew it was going to storm, but the close proximity of an actual tornado during our school day surprised us! It shook us all, but reminded us that we know exactly what to do to stay safe. It was hard on Ben and Conner. They were very scared, but they made it through along with everyone else! We are definitely hoping that we never have to experience that again at school!

TV!

Nick and our brother in law, Curt, made it on TV at the Hawkeye game tonight!

Cousins!

My nieces came to stay with us for the day! Nick and Curt went to the Hawkeye game and Cari is out of town, so I gladly said I would spend the day with all four kiddos! The boys had a soccer game so we watched that, then we did some crafts, coloring, dinner, playing outside, watching a movie/Hawkeye game, and the kids are now having a slumber party in the basement. We had a great day, but I have to admit, I am ready for bed!

Crush...

We had a little excitement at school today when it was brought to my attention that Ben had passed a note to a girl! There is a certain girl who he has talked about a lot lately, so he decided to send her a little note today that basically asked her if she liked him. She responded with a yes and a suggestion that they play together at recess. He also shared his declaration of love for this sweet girl to many different people throughout the day, including a teacher who told him that since he is only in 5th grade, he can call her a good friend, but he's not really in love with her. He responded with, "Oh no, I really am in love with her!" We had a pretty entertaining chat after school, but for now our Ben has a pretty serious crush!!!

Softball Injury...

On Sunday we headed out to watch Nick play softball again. The boys really enjoyed watching the game tonight and Ben wouldn't even sit with Conner and me because he wanted to focus on the game. Unfortunately, towards the end of the game, Nick injured his right leg. It was concerning enough that we decided to go to the Emergency Room. He left the hospital with a (probably) strained muscle behind his knee, crutches, and a referral to an orthopedic surgeon.... We will see how the next several days go! Not exactly the relaxing Sunday night we had hoped for...

Happy Birthday Nick!

Today Nick turns 41!!! Ben and Conner had a soccer game, our parents came for a quick visit, Nick opened some presents and we spent the rest of the night watching the Hawkeyes win another football game! The boys really wanted to stay up and Nick and I were pretty sure they wouldn't make it, but with a 2 hour nap this afternoon, they had just enough energy left to stay awake until the end of the game! Happy Birthday to our wonderful husband and daddy. We love and appreciate you so much... beyond words!!! Thank you for everything that you do for us! HAPPY 41st BIRTHDAY!!! Love you...

Softball!

Nick decided to join a softball team through work, so we all went out to watch his game this afternoon! He did really well and the boys loved cheering for him!

Movies, Sump Pumps, and Tornadoes!

Popcorn and a movie were on our list of things to do today. The boys got to enjoy their popcorn and The Greatest Showman. I had planned to join them, but Nick discovered that our sump pump wasn't working! He used the shop vac to get some of the water out of the pit while I rearranged the finished part of the basement because a small portion of the carpet was starting to feel damp. NOT FUN!!! While Nick was still trying to pump water out, the tornado siren started to go off. There ended up being a tornado pretty close to us. The boys heard the siren and began freaking out promptly. We watched the weather, but continued to try and save our basement from flooding! At this point, Ben is going outside to see if he can see the tornado and Conner is running around the house yelling, "I'm too cute to die!" Of course, this was all happening around our dinner and medicine time. Nick had planned an awesome meal to grill, but he was a little busy... so I made the boys some sandwiches so they could have some dinner. The tornado moved on, but there was more weather coming. By some miracle, our sump pump started working when Nick was trying to get it out! We still decided we better have a plan B ready so Nick ran to Menards to buy a new sump pump. While Nick was gone, the boys insisted that we make an emergency kit, so they threw some supplies in a container and now we will be prepared for next time! It was hard to go to bed tonight because Conner and Ben were pretty sure they should stay up all night so they would know if there was another tornado! Whew! Not my favorite day, but we were still able to have some laughs through it all! I just love this family of mine... always an adventure!

Target Trip...

Today we took a trip to Target and the boys wanted to buy something with their own money. Conner had his heart set on a Ninjago Lego set and even looked online before going, to see what kinds there were. Ben also wanted a Lego set, but after we spent 20 minutes picking out Legos at the store, Ben changed his mind and decided he really wanted a "man's watch!" So, he found a red and black watch that he really liked!
