Ben's surgery...

It sure has been an interesting week here at the Hedlund household.  Ben woke up early Monday morning and got sick... everywhere.  I got sick on Tuesday and it hit Nick on Wednesday.  Conner had to have some dental work done that day so that was his first experience at the dentist's office where he was not all smiles!  In fact, he had to be carried back to the dental chair because he refused to go!  After it was all done, he had a numb mouth and wasn't quite sure how he felt about it, so he spent the rest of the day relaxing and watching movies.  On Thursday, Conner got sick, but thankfully we all were feeling much better by Thursday night.  This morning, Ben had to have ear surgery to get his tubes out and possibly patch the holes they left in his eardrums.  He did a great job waiting at the Surgery Center!

Ben's surgery went really well.  Both tubes were removed and they only had to patch his right eardrum.  They had to patch it with skin from behind his ear so he does have a couple of sutures behind his right ear.  He was fully awake when the nurses brought him back to us and we are home now, where getting Ben to relax and take it easy is proving to be a bit difficult... no surprise there!  I tried explaining to Ben how after people have surgery, they are supposed to rest, sleep, and take it easy.  His response was, "Yeah, that's not gonna happen..."  But I am pleased to report that our boy is doing great and is his usual happy self!

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter!  Ben, Conner, and Brecken found their Easter baskets on Easter morning and the big boys even discovered that the Easter Bunny had left some eggs outside for them, too!  It was great to spend Easter with some family and just enjoy the morning together!

Close...

After visiting our great grandmas on Saturday afternoon, Nana, Gramps, Josh, Jenn, and Brecken were able to stay at our house Saturday night.  We all had a great time!  I went in to check on the boys at one point and found this... They never seem to mind being close to each other!

Happy Birthday Great Grandma!

We went to visit our Great Grandmas today for Great Grandma Merriau's 95th birthday!  The kids got to dye some Easter eggs while we were there!

Great Grandma Hasty holds little Brecken, who was awesome all day!

Aunt Peggy dyed some eggs with the kiddos!

Happy Birthday Great Grandma Merriau from all of your great grandkids...  Marley, Brecken, Benjamin, Piper, and Conner!

Marley, Ben, and Conner thought they needed a funny face picture with Great Grandma!  It was great to be able to celebrate all together!  Happy Birthday Grandma!!!

Fit...

I thought I would capture one of Conner's famous fits this afternoon!  We got home from school and I asked him to take off his shoes... his new Spiderman shoes... He did not think they needed to come off, so I told him he could take them off or he could stay in the kitchen.  He laid down in the pantry and pouted for a while and then showed me his "mean" face for a while!  Eventually, he decided that he would take them off!

Hard Work...

Shoe shopping is hard work...  Waiting for dinner is kinda hard, too....  By the time we got to eating dinner, they were both falling asleep at the table!  Gotta love Mondays...

Early Easter...

On Saturday, we heard that the Easter Bunny might be visiting Daddy's store so we went to see for ourselves.  On our way over to the store, Ben told me that he would get his picture taken with the Easter Bunny first because Conner would probably be too scared.  (Anyone who remembers our Santa and Easter Bunny visits from past years may know that Conner is not the one who gets scared!)  Anyway, Ben and Conner were ready to meet that Bunny!  When we walked into the store, the Easter Bunny was the first thing we saw.  Ben immediately hid behind me, saying that there was no way he going to go near that bunny!  Conner walked right up, picked a pencil from the basket, and waited for me to take his picture!  We gave  Ben a few more minutes to change his mind, but he was not about to give in, so we went to make a little Easter craft.  After making their oranges into "bunnies," we did a little grocery shopping.  As we were shopping, the boys got to stop at each department and collect Easter eggs!  They did really enjoy that part!

When we got home, the boys showed me their "orange bunnies" and they went through their Easter eggs, collecting all of the treats inside!

Since Conner was the only one who would go near the Easter Bunny, on our way out of the store, he grabbed an extra pencil "for his brother!"  So, here Conner is with his two pencils. Ben did finally smile and wave at the Easter Bunny as we left!  It was a pretty good afternoon and great early Easter!

Spring Pictures...

The boys had spring pictures at school a few weeks ago and we saw the pictures today.  I cannot believe how old they both look...

"New" Coats...

It was finally time to see what was so cool about those new winter coats this year!  They had another coat inside!  The boys were amazed and proclaimed me the best mom ever!  If only they were always so easy to please... so here they are ready for school with their fabulous "new" coats!

Conner Gets Even!

Not to be outdone by his brother, Conner pulled out his 6th tooth today.  His teacher said that he would not leave it alone all morning at school.  I didn't even realize that it was very loose, but Conner spent his morning wiggling that tooth and two trips to the nurse later, Conner had a brand new tooth necklace carrying his 6th lost tooth!  The count is even now....  Ben has lost 6 and Conner has lost 6.  I think it will be a while before we lose anymore... Of course, I could be wrong!
