Off Roading...

Conner, Ben, and Nick have been enjoying some long bike rides lately! They found a huge dirt pile that they have been having some fun with!

Pond Fishing...

We made a quick decision this morning to try out a new pond in the area and let the boys do a little fishing. Nick and I had a great time being outside. The boys did too, but were very preoccupied with how buggy it was! Didn't get any fish, but it's a nice little pond that we can go to this summer when we don't have the boat out. Right when we were getting ready to leave, Conner slid on some gravel and ended up in the pond... it was a hilarious ending to a fun morning!

Stained...

The deck is getting stained (sealed) tonight! Conner was a great helper this year, while Ben dodged and complained about all the bugs... Anyway, it's done!

Zoom!

After doing a little schoolwork, Ben and Conner had a book club Zoom meeting. After book club, they had another Zoom meeting with their Language Arts teacher and they really enjoyed seeing about 40 of their classmates and several teachers. We decided to eat lunch outside since it was so nice out and we even finished a book that we had been working our way through. It was a nice day, but these guys are definitely getting tired of doing schoolwork at home! It is supposed to storm here soon, so we will see what else the afternoon brings us!

Porch Delivery...

Nana and Gramps made a front porch delivery today of some Easter baskets for the boys. I have to say, it was pretty weird talking to my parents in the front yard, but I was so grateful to be able to see them for the first time in over two months!

Ben's Update...

Ben is ready for his weekly appointment to Iowa City for his medication injection. He continues to go every week for his shot to help with his platelet count. His count is 83k and this is the 5th week of a platelet count above 80k, so that's good news! Platelets are always on his mind, but Ben is a trooper!

Saturday = No School!

I went downstairs to see what the boys were up to this morning and they were playing Switch on the handheld console, which I thought was pretty funny, since they could have easily put in on the TV so they could both see it better! We decided it was time to get outside, so the guys shot some hoops for a while. Conner was so drained after basketball that he couldn't even bother sitting up! Ben gave me a lovely smile!

We took a leisurely walk around the pond in our neighborhood this morning. Nice weather days make life a little bit easier!

Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day to all of you amazing moms! I had a great day filled with love, a little peace, and my three favorite guys! These last several weeks have tested me as a mom and even as a human... I am used to being what my kids have always needed, but those needs have changed since I am the only person they have any contact with throughout the day. I am doing my best and we are all coping with a new normal. I am blessed beyond words to call my kids MINE! I will look back on this year and have a faint memory of the added stress, but mostly I will be grateful for all of the extra time I have been able to spend with my amazing kids! My husband always makes this day special and this one was no exception. Happy Mother's Day!!!

Spanish...

We have been trying to learn a little Spanish this week! Today we worked on colors and then the boys got to work on a color by number sheet in Spanish. They enjoyed having something a bit different to work on!

Breaks...

Our homeschool schedule is definitely getting more flexible... we try to do an hour of work and then a "fun" activity for 15-30 minutes and then go back to work and so on. Today one of our breaks was playing with some drones, which was actually pretty cool! The boys also made some bookmarks that Nana sent.

Blooming...

Nick and I ventured out to a few places this morning in search of flowers to plant. Not much variety at Menards or Home Depot, so I went to our local Culvers this afternoon and picked up many gorgeous flowers that will add some much needed color to our home. The best part is planting them! We found a home for everything and enjoyed some time outside today!

Fishing Fun!

We decided to go take a little fishing trip to the lake in Palo today! It was so amazing to get outside and even more amazing to get the boat on the lake! We didn't catch a thing, but these smiles were so nice to see! I cannot even describe how nice it was to see the joy on ALL of our faces!
