Ben's 4th Tooth!

Yes... another tooth!  Ben lost his fourth tooth today.  He was eating a snack after school and it just kinda fell out!  It's been loose for a while so we expected it to come out soon.  Now Ben has a nice little window in the front of his mouth!

A Different Kind of Staple...

On Saturday evening, the four of us were sitting around, being lazy.  We finally decided to go play some Wii so we headed downstairs and Nick started setting everything up and the boys gathered all the remotes.  As Ben was speeding by the coffee table, he fell and hit his head on the corner of the table.  He got right back up and was crying so I sat with him for a minute before I inspected the damage... unfortunately when I saw where his head had collided with the table, I knew we were going to need some assistance!  So I told Nick we needed to go upstairs and decide what to do. (I also didn't want Conner flipping out if he saw Ben's head bleeding.)  We decided that I would take Ben to the ER.  Ben was so incredibly brave!  The doctor did use 5 staples to help close Ben's cut on his head and Ben barely even shed a tear.  It was pretty amazing!  It all happened so fast that I don't think Ben even knew what the doctor was doing!  The first picture is Ben at the ER.  The second is Ben and Dad after we got home on Saturday night and the third is a picture of Ben's staples!  It's not too gross... but feel free not to look... ( I don't like to!)  The trick will be getting Ben to leave his head alone until we go get the staples taken out in 10 days.  Hopefully Ben's head will heal up nicely!  This was our first incident resulting in "staples".... it would be great if it was our last...

Conner's Surprise!

We had a little surprise from Conner on Friday evening.  He and Nick were wrestling around in the living room and when Conner got up and smiled at us, he had lost his other front tooth!  Luckily we found it by the couch!  We had no idea it was even that loose, and Conner didn't even know that it had fallen out until we asked him where his tooth was! So Conner is now the proud owner of a (front) toothless grin!  That's tooth #4 for Conner!

On Saturday morning, the Tooth Fairy had, indeed, come again and Conner was very excited to have some more money for his bank and another note from the Tooth Fairy reminding Conner of what a big brave boy he is!

Kindergarten Specials Night...

Tonight was the Kindergarten Specials night at school so we got to go see a few of the things that the boys do in Music, PE, Art, and Guidance!  Music was a highlight since they got to play instruments!  It was fun to see them with some friends and they definitely enjoyed showing us their classrooms and their artwork.

Frosty...

Ben and Conner finally got to make a snowman with Dad today!  They were so excited! They named him Frosty...  (And yes, Nick used spray paint for the face!)

Conner's 3rd Tooth!

On Saturday night, our Conner finally lost that front tooth!  He either lost it while he was hiding in his bed or when I pulled his shirt off before shower time.  I looked at him and noticed blood and luckily, we found his tooth laying on his bed!  Ben told Conner that he was very proud of him!  It has left a big "tooth hole" as Conner calls it!  He was very excited and received his note and gift from the Tooth Fairy the next morning. The only thing missing was a "tooth necklace" that Conner has been talking nonstop about.  At school, when a kid loses a tooth, they get a little tooth container on a necklace to keep their tooth safe.  Conner desperately wanted one and since he asked so nicely, he was able to get one on Monday even though the Tooth Fairy had already taken his tooth!  So that's why I am just putting Saturday's pictures on here today... we were waiting for that tooth necklace to complete the experience!  Conner looks so different!!!

Ice Fishing...

Nick finally talked me into letting the boys go ice fishing with Nick and Papa.  The boys had a fantastic time and Nick said that they even behaved pretty good, too!  They came home excited and exhausted!  I was pleasantly surprised!

Imaginations...

We have enjoyed many activities on our Saturday morning today.  At one point, Ben and Conner decided to play some kind of doctor game, hence the thermometer in Conner's mouth.  They worked real hard on arranging chairs to lay on but Ben kept ending up on the floor.  Their imaginations were busy this morning...

So Close...

Conner has a seriously loose tooth in the front of his mouth on top!  He is actually having a little trouble talking with it, it's hanging down so much! So, we decided that it needed to come out, thinking that it would be an easy pull.  Not the case... I don't know how that tooth is hanging in there, but it is.  Stay tuned...  (Notice in the second picture how Ben is covering his face while Dad tries to pull Conner's tooth!)

Snow Tunnel...

The boys had a great time playing outside with Daddy today.  They made a tunnel in the snow, but it didn't last long!  When Dad came inside to grab the camera, the boys decided to collapse their newly made tunnel! They were just happy being able to play out in the snow!

Drywall Drama...

Many of you know that Nick has been building a bathroom in our basement this past year.  Well, we finally got to the store today to pick up some drywall.  As usual, my husband thought it would fit just fine in the van because he "measured" it....  And, also, as usual, his measurements were not quite accurate.  So what do you do when you are in the parking lot of Menards, having already purchased the drywall with your spouse and two children in tow? You come up with a new plan... I won't go into detail, but we may not have obeyed all child seat safety laws on the ride home, but the funniest thing was the boys' reactions.  Conner was loving it.  He just laid there and giggled for most of the ride home.  Ben, however, was almost in tears, saying, "This is unacceptable!  This is not a good plan, Dad!"  We made it home in one piece and we even got the drywall down to the basement, so I consider that a success!  (Even though Ben may disagree...)

Home...

We got to spend New Years Eve with our friends, the Abels and Guiles in Ames this year!  We had a great night and the kids all love getting together!  Now that we are home, it is kinda nice to not have to think about packing another suitcase for a little while!  I love the holidays and everything goes way too fast, but it is such a nice feeling to have a few days off at home, too!  We will have some time to relax and open all the new toys now!  I can't believe it is January 2014!
