Friday and Saturday...

We started our vacation on Friday with the 6-7 hour long trip to Spicer Minnesota.  Nick and I were a little worried about the trip because it is so long, but the boys really did great.  DVD players and snacks made the trip bearable!  We got to the resort in the late afternoon, got unpacked, and wasted no time getting outside.  It was a bit windy so we didn't make it into the water, but found several other activities to keep our boys busy!

On Saturday, we were thrilled that the weather warmed up a bit so we could enjoy our beach!  Nick even got his first nap of the week.  Conner and Ben rode bikes and got to fish for the first time off the dock since last year.  I even let them walk to the end of the dock to fish... I was a little concerned that one of them would end up in the lake, but they did great!  They enjoyed playing in the water and Ben was a huge fan of jumping into the lake off of the dock.  We skipped naptime in favor of beach time, but the boys exhausted themselves and got a little snooze in before dinner.  Nick got a remote control boat for an early Fathers Day gift so they all enjoyed playing with that as well.

Nick... napping and texting... two of his favorite things!

We took the boys out in the boat for some fishing.  They are great at reeling in their lines, not so great at the whole waiting for a fish to bite thing!  But they both caught their first fish ever Saturday night and that made their daddy pretty proud!  It was hilarious to watch their little faces!!!  Ben had no problem touching his fish, and for some reason Conner really wanted to kiss his!  They were both so excited!!!

What a great way to spend an evening...

Before the Storm...

We leave for vacation tomorrow so we have been busy trying to get everything ready.  For Nick, this means that our van has to be washed and vacuumed for the trip.  So, last night he took the kids outside and washed the van with them.  The sky was dark and seemed ready to open up with rain at any second, but it actually held off until Nick was all finished.  Conner did a great job of listening to Nick and washing certain areas of the van.  Ben pretty much just wanted to spray the hose.  It was fun to watch the three of them!

Right when we got the boys down for bed, the power went out and that sent the kids (and Nick) into a frenzy!  The wind, lightning, and thunder made for an interesting night since Conner is still very scared of storms.  I sat with him for a while, reassuring him that everything was going to be just fine.  It is amazing how different these two little men are... With the thunder still booming, Ben went back to bed, telling me "night, night," and pulling his blanket over his face.  Conner would not allow me to leave their bedroom and everytime I tried to, he would cry.  Nick and I both took turns calming Con down for a while and eventually he just exhausted himself.  No power and a crying child meant no packing for us last night so hopefully tonight will be more productive!

Ouchie...

As I was in the shower this morning, I could hear the boys getting a little crazy... next thing I knew Conner was wailing so I rushed into their room and was met by a sobbing ConMan whose face and hands were covered with blood.  Luckily it wasn't as bad as it looked but he really did a number on his lower lip.  It is getting bigger and bigger by the hour this morning!

We needed a nice low key activity for a while so we are going to try some beading.  Conner is really doing a great job!  He concentrates so hard to get the next bead on the string.  Conner really wants to make a necklace so he is working very hard!   His focus is amazing!

Ben is also doing a tremendous job.  It is a little easier for him to string the beads so he goes a bit faster than Conner, but anyone who knows Ben knows that the kid just cannot sit still, so once he gets about ten beads on, he dumps them all back into the bowl, tells me "I'm all done," and goes to run around the house a little bit!  He keeps coming back, but I'm not sure he will end up with a finished product today!

Cheese!

After playing outside and getting all sweaty (and a little grumpy) the boys informed me that they really needed some cheese.  Cheese fixes most things around here...

6:00 a.m.

What were you doing at 6:00 this morning?  I was awakened by the two cutest little boys, who had decided that the floor was a much more fun place to hang out....  unfortunately, the noises that woke me up were of them whimpering and kicking each other, but they still looked pretty cute!

New...

Dry clothes and a nice long nap produce new ideas...
