Before the Storm...

We leave for vacation tomorrow so we have been busy trying to get everything ready.  For Nick, this means that our van has to be washed and vacuumed for the trip.  So, last night he took the kids outside and washed the van with them.  The sky was dark and seemed ready to open up with rain at any second, but it actually held off until Nick was all finished.  Conner did a great job of listening to Nick and washing certain areas of the van.  Ben pretty much just wanted to spray the hose.  It was fun to watch the three of them!

Right when we got the boys down for bed, the power went out and that sent the kids (and Nick) into a frenzy!  The wind, lightning, and thunder made for an interesting night since Conner is still very scared of storms.  I sat with him for a while, reassuring him that everything was going to be just fine.  It is amazing how different these two little men are... With the thunder still booming, Ben went back to bed, telling me "night, night," and pulling his blanket over his face.  Conner would not allow me to leave their bedroom and everytime I tried to, he would cry.  Nick and I both took turns calming Con down for a while and eventually he just exhausted himself.  No power and a crying child meant no packing for us last night so hopefully tonight will be more productive!
